Why filler is necessary

How to dissipate heat from filler

The heat dissipation method of cooling tower filler is mainly achieved by increasing the contact between water and air, promoting evaporation and heat transfer. It can be divided into three core principles:

1. Evaporative heat dissipation (most importantly)

When hot water is divided into thin films or water droplets on the surface of the filler, air flows through between the fillers,

Part of the water will evaporate, absorbing a large amount of latent heat (latent heat of evaporation)

This accounts for 70% -80% of the cooling effect of the cooling tower.

2. Convection heat dissipation (hot air takes away heat)

The part of water that has not evaporated is carried away with heat through air convection.

Airflow enters from the bottom or sides, and is in reverse or transverse contact with the water flow, forming forced convection.

3. Heat conduction (small amount)

When water comes into direct contact with air, heat is also transferred through molecular heat conduction, but the proportion is minimal.
