Cooling tower fill (also known as heat dissipation fill, water spray fill) is the most core heat exchange component inside the cooling tower. Its main function is to increase the contact area and contact time between water and air, thereby improving the evaporation and heat dissipation efficiency of water and achieving the cooling purpose of circulating water.
During the operation of the cooling tower, hot water is evenly sprayed onto the surface of the fill material through the water distribution system, forming a water film or droplets that come into full contact with the air introduced by the fan. The heat is dissipated through evaporation and convective heat exchange.

The filler has a complex corrugated or honeycomb structure, which can significantly increase the contact area between water and air, making heat exchange more complete and improving the cooling effect.
The high-quality fill structure design is reasonable, with low ventilation resistance, reducing fan energy consumption while ensuring cooling effect, and improving overall operating efficiency.
The commonly used materials are PVC, PP or modified plastics, which have good acid and alkali resistance, water resistance and aging resistance, and are suitable for various industrial circulating water environments.
Plastic fill is lightweight, structurally stable, not easily deformed, easy to install and maintain, and reduces the load on the tower structure.
Reasonable flow channel design can reduce the deposition of dirt, lower the risk of scaling and blockage, and facilitate daily flushing and maintenance.
Under normal water quality and operating conditions, the filling material can be used for 5 to 10 years or more, with good economic efficiency.
Cooling tower fill is widely popular in the Japanese market, mainly due to Japan's high emphasis on high efficiency, energy efficiency, and long-term stable operation of industrial equipment. The Japanese industrial system is mature, but the factory space is limited, which requires extremely high heat transfer performance and compact structure of cooling towers. High performance fillers can significantly increase the contact area between water and air, improve cooling efficiency without increasing equipment volume, and conform to its technical concept of "high efficiency, energy saving, and refined management". At the same time, Japan is very sensitive to equipment reliability and maintenance costs. High quality fillers have the characteristics of corrosion resistance, long service life, and resistance to blockage, which can reduce the frequency of downtime and maintenance, meet their requirements for long-term stable operation and low lifecycle costs of equipment, and therefore have been widely used and recognized in the Japanese market.

PT is an excellent domestic manufacturer of cooling tower parts. Since its establishment in 2009, PT has always adhered to the concept of "long-lasting quality and endless innovation".PT produces various cooling tower fillers, such as S-wave fillers, cross-flow tower fillers, counter flow tower fillers, round fillers. Various brand fillers: Liangchi, Lanxun, Spindle, Ebara, Kingsun, etc. Materials include PP, PVC, UPVC.The company has over 40 product inventions practical technology patents, and has iS09001, 1S014000, and other certifications.
Part of the Kobe Steel Group, Kobelco Eco-Solutions is a major Japanese cooling tower supplier with a long track record of installations in Japan and overseas. The company manufactures a range of cooling tower fills — including film-type and splash-type PVC/polypropylene fillers — engineered to handle varying water qualities and thermal loads. Their in-house development emphasizes long-term performance and retrofit support.
Tsukishima Kankyo Engineering specializes in engineered plastic fill and internals for towers. While its core business spans various industrial gas-liquid contact applications, it has decades of experience producing high-performance plastic ring fill and structured fill modules (e.g., SPIRAX, Raschig variants) that can be adapted for use in cooling tower fill and other mass-transfer applications.
Yamato Taiyo focuses on liquid/gas contact fills and fills used across water treatment and industrial contact towers. Its Alpackin® series comprises PVC structured sheets and modules that serve as cooling tower fills (counterflow and cross-flow types), drift eliminators, and spray/distribution fills — making the company a notable domestic producer of essential fill components.
KUKEN is a long-established Japanese cooling tower builder that also manufactures key internal components such as PVC sheet fills and replacement fill modules. In addition to complete cooling tower systems, KUKEN supplies fill packs tailored for retrofit, maintenance, and performance upgrades, supporting various tower configurations.
