What is splash type fill of cooling tower

In cooling towers, fillers are key components that affect heat dissipation performance, and the types of fillers are mainly divided into film fillers and splash type fillers. Among them, splash type fillers are widely used in industrial fields and systems with high suspended solids water quality due to their characteristics of anti fouling, anti clogging, and adaptability to harsh water quality.

Definition of Splashing Fill

Splash Type Fill, also known as splash type fill or splash type fill, is a type of fill that utilizes water droplets to continuously impact the structure of the fill and disperse into smaller droplets to enhance the evaporative heat dissipation effect.

Unlike membrane fillers that allow water to form a thin film along the surface, the core of splash type fillers is to "disperse the water flow, create multiple drops and impacts", thereby increasing the air contact area and the number of water droplets, achieving cooling.

Structural characteristics of splash type fill of cooling tower

Splash type fillers typically consist of the following structures:

1)Ladder or grid shaped slats

2)Square, strip or suspended unit

3)A structure with multiple layers of falling water steps

4)The material is mostly PP (polypropylene) or PVC

Working principle of splash type fill of cooling tower

The working method of splash type fill can be summarized into four key steps:

1.The water flow falls and collides with the surface of the filling material

Hot water falls from the top of the tower and hits the multi-layered fill structure.

2.Water droplets are dispersed into smaller particles

The impact causes the water flow to split into a large number of tiny water droplets, increasing the contact area between water and gas.

3.Repeated collisions between multiple layers of structures

Water repeatedly collides, breaks, and spreads during its descent.

4.Enhance the evaporation heat transfer between air and water

Due to the increase in the number and more uniform dispersion of water droplets, the evaporation efficiency is significantly improved
